It's not the axe, its the lumberjack

When I think of modern-day creators and makers, and the processes that bind us, I understand how frustrating it is to convert a labor of love into dollars that make sense. We want to express ourselves creatively without becoming handcuffed to our tools of the trade.

This always reminds me of the Tale of Two Lumberjacks. In the creative business, the forest is full of woodcutters, but the most efficient ones claim the prize without exhausting themselves in the process. What truly makes a project successful? It’s not the axe; it’s the lumberjack.

Many creatives fear that Artificial Intelligence will replace the artist. But AI isn't the lumberjack—it is the whetstone. In creative marketing, your unique human vision, empathy, and raw imagination are what swing the axe; AI is simply the tool that sharpens your edge. By using AI as both a time-saving assistant for tedious formatting and a collaborative partner to brainstorm variations and analyze audience hooks, you free up your mental bandwidth. It ensures that when your creative campaign finally hits the market, it cuts cleanly through the noise.

Here are a few practical ways we’ve been putting AI to work:

Virtual Staging: Using a combination of AI elements and photoshop we can see how our unique style will look when applied to completely new subjects and spaces, sparking fresh creative directions.

Instant Concept Moodboards: We use AI text-to-image generators to rapidly visualize compositions, color palettes, and lighting schemes before ever picking up a stylus.

Smart Masking and Selection: AI tools in software like Photoshop can instantly isolate complex elements (like hair, fur, or tree branches) with a single click, saving hours of manual lassoing.

Great art needs great marketing. AI is not replacing the human side of creating and making. It is helping with the parts that slow things down, so there is more room for strategy, creativity, and follow-through.
